Walking Around Bampton & Surrounding Area

A leisurely walk around Bampton itself will give you a good idea of the history of Bampton, the best way is to follow the 'Bampton Town Trail'.

This is a walk which takes you around the town, and introduces you to historic sites and buildings. Along the way you will also be able to enjoy 'Bampton in Bloom'.

Bampton is situated on the Exe Valley Way, making it an excellent stop for those who enjoy walking.

 

As you journey along this beautiful route, take the time to appreciate the picturesque landscapes and the delightful villages that you will encounter throughout this stunning river valley.

The Bampton Woods Circular is a moderate 2.5-mile walk that explores the town's industrial past.

 

Walk past old quarry tracks and woodland. Starting from Station Road Car Park, this walk features scenic views, steep sections, and links to the historic limestone area.

A predominantly a field walk, with some longish stretches, to the north of Bampton affording fine panoramic views across the Exe and Batherm Valleys and over to Exmoor,
